Gabor Draskoczy

Hungarian-born Gabor Draskoczy discovered early on that his true calling was violin making. After graduating from the renowned Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music in Budapest in 1996, he refined his craft in respected workshops across Hungary before moving to London to work with Florian Leonhard Fine Violins.

In 2017, Gabor proudly opened his own workshop, quickly establishing himself as a leading contemporary violin maker. His instruments are celebrated for flawless craftsmanship and a rich, powerful tone that stands alongside the great masters.

Specializing in faithful copies of iconic Italian instruments by Stradivari, Guarneri del Gesù, Amati, and Gasparo da Salò, Gabor captures both the visual beauty and tonal warmth that define these timeless works. Always open to new challenges, he collaborates closely with clients to create instruments tailored to their individual needs.

Beyond reproductions, Gabor is forging his own path with a line of fully varnished instruments that combine traditional Cremonese techniques with his personal, modern vision.

His exceptional dedication and skill earned him a coveted double Gold Medal for tone and workmanship at the 2016 Violin Society of America Competition—a clear testament to his place among the finest makers working today.
